Need a private driver in Sri Lanka today?
Same-day and next-day pickups, airport transfers and multi-day custom tours - confirmed on WhatsApp in under an hour. No deposit, no form, no phone tree.
Short answer
Yes - HireATourDriver.lk accepts same-day and last-minute bookings across most of Sri Lanka, including Bandaranaike (CMB) airport transfers, Colombo city pickups, south coast beach stops, Kandy and the cultural triangle. WhatsApp us with your pickup time, destination and group size, and we confirm the vehicle, driver name and firm price in under an hour. For most Colombo and south-coast jobs we can dispatch within 2-4 hours. No deposit is required to lock the booking.
What we can confirm same-day
Common last-minute jobs we take every week.
Airport pickups (CMB → your hotel)
Your flight landed late, you did not pre-book, the arrivals-hall touts look dodgy. WhatsApp us from inside the terminal with your flight number - we send a driver with a name board and your name in English script. Colombo hotels in 45 minutes, Negombo in 15, Kandy in 3-3.5 hours.
Day trips from Colombo and the south
Colombo to Galle, Mirissa whale watching, Bentota river safari, Pinnawala (we recommend ethical alternatives), Sigiriya in a long day. Same-day pickup usually possible if you message before 10am. For 06:00 safari starts, book the night before so your driver sleeps near the park gate.
Overnight and 2-3 day extensions
You arrived with a vague plan, got to day two, and now want to see more. Common same-day extensions: Colombo + Kandy overnight, south coast + Yala safari, Ella + Nuwara Eliya tea country. We rework the hotel bookings while you keep sightseeing.
Replacement for a cancelled driver
Your pre-booked driver did not show, your platform cancelled, or the vehicle you were promised is not the one that arrived. Send us a photo of what went wrong plus your pickup location and we try to dispatch a vetted driver within 2-4 hours in most tourist regions.

How same-day booking actually works
Five minutes from first message to confirmed driver.
- You WhatsApp us with pickup location, time, group size, destination and any luggage. One message, no form.
- We check driver availability and reply within an hour (usually faster during Sri Lanka daytime) with the firm price, the vehicle type, and the driver\'s name and photo.
- You say yes. No deposit for the booking itself - pay on arrival or at the end of the trip in cash (LKR / USD / EUR) or by card link.
- Your driver messages you directly 30 minutes before pickup with their live location and vehicle plate number.
- If anything changes, the office stays reachable on WhatsApp for the whole trip - 7 days a week.
